Cabinets by Design
My current favorite project was inspired by a trip to Chicago. It features a floor to ceiling window that is cantilevered over a canyon with an amazing view. It took time to convince the client, but he is now very grateful and loves to show it off.
When I first meet with a homeowner, I look for common ground to develop a rapport and I ask a lot of questions so the client can do the talking. I show photos and plans of completed projects so they will have confidence in what I can do. The key is to explain the process, while letting clients know upfront that remodeling can be a stressful process, but that I will hold their hand through it.
Consumers should select a designer who listens and asks questions. Ask to see examples of the designer’s work, and talk to other clients who have completed projects with that designer.
In order to help my clients figure out what style of kitchen is best suited for them, I first find out about their lifestyle, kids, pets, etc. I also take a look at the style of the rest of the house to make sure that the new kitchen will blend in. I tell all my clients about Houzz.com and it has been an extremely helpful tool for both me and my clients.
My favorite aspect about designing is the challenge of getting everything on my client’s wish list incorporated into the project. I have always loved puzzles and every job is a new one.
